Good Gift To Get A Stroke Victim

"Medea in Corinto, please note that ..."
beginning of a drain to an old
verse of Euripides 'Medea ( Schol. Eur Med . 264, II p. 59 Schwartz)

You are the' lawyers 'called to intervene in' Medea 'trial', committed to spread the your harangue, to collect information and interview witnesses ...

you are asked to draw up a text of 10 pages of argumentative support for the thesis that has been entrusted to your group about the guilt / innocence of Medea, which must contain:

  • clear and complete exposure of your thesis: Medea guilty / innocent, why?
  • evidence that you have 'collected' and organized in support of your thesis: Medea is guilty / innocent, because ...;
  • (between tests) the intervention of the 'witnesses' (ancient sources that you have read and analyzed) in your favor, the facts speak 'in live' with their voice (the text of the source) - an outline of questions and answers to their questioning, so they can explain clearly and completely their own version of 'facts' of the myth -;
  • any refutation of the / opposite view and / and yours, not Medea is innocent / guilty, because ...;
  • possible (but highly recommended) refutation of the other witnesses - a 'cross-examination', organized to make them 'fall' and demonstrate the inconsistency and bias of their version ... ;
  • a summary concluding 20 lines, the location of your argument (thesis, evidence, witnesses ...).

    The pleading will be exhibited in the classroom, a simulation of hearing in the trial of Medea, in which the word will have lawyers and witnesses ...

    WARNING: You are in Greece in the fifth century, just after the performance of Euripides' ... So you have a particular emphasis on the best way to 'witness', consistent with this dating, according to biographical information on authors who have found (some' author 'may intervene at the trial, some other will intervene, but will mention, indirectly, older versions, who knew ...);

    NB: All of your 'evidence' does not refer only to what is displayed, but they can also gain value from the authoritativeness of those providing the information - modern or ancient source scholar -. It is therefore requested, where possible, to provide explicit references authorship information and enhance the city's origin:
    scholar of the modern myth of Medea, the History of Ancient Literature, History of Religions ..., the ancient source: ancient, geographical origin (in Greece ...).
